Meet the 2025 Keynote Speaker

Dr. Cheryl Hogue Smith
Cheryl Hogue Smith is a Professor of English and the Writing and Reading Across the Curriculum Certification Coordinator at Kingsborough Community College, CUNY. She is a Past Chair of the Two-Year College English Association (TYCA) and a Fellow of the National Writing Project. Her work about teaching appears in TETYC, JBW, JAAL, English Journal, JTW, and Pedagogy and in several edited collections.
Interactive Flash Presentation Session
Melding the personalized quality of a poster session with the digital quality of a presentation session, we invite presenters to speak about their work through quick 5-minute presentations in a one-on-one setting. You can engage in conversation with your TYCA Northeast colleagues about your work and build meaningful connections. Also, if you experience stress while presenting alone in front of a room, this might be a preferable format for you.
The format:
- Each presenter will have a table in the main salon to set up their laptop with their presentation materials.
- Presenters will remain with their laptops and over the course of 45 minutes, attendees of the conference will move from presentation to presentation interacting with the presenters about their work.
Topics that are ideal for this format:
- Classroom Activities
- Ongoing Research
- Demonstration of digital tools in English education
